Juvenile Justice Act Overrides All Other Laws In Case Of Child In Conflict With Law: Allahabad High Court
The Allahabad High Court held that the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 (JJ Act) has overriding effect over all other laws “for a child in conflict with law”. The bench observed that the statute expressly states “notwithstanding anything contained in this Act or in any other law” and therefore the JJ Act’s processes and protections must govern proceedings involving juveniles, ensuring reform-focused approach and child-specific adjudication even when overlapping statutes apply.
