Kerala High Court Directs Formation Of SIT To Trace Missing Kuwait Resident
The Kerala High Court directed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the disappearance of an individual reportedly last traced to Kuwait and subsequently associated with movements through Bangalore and Kochi. The order reflects the Court’s exercise of supervisory jurisdiction in missing-person matters where cross-jurisdictional dimensions or suspected foul play warrant a focused investigative apparatus. The SIT was directed to co-ordinate enquiries, collect and preserve evidence, liaise with relevant police units and authorities in other jurisdictions, and expedite inquiries into travel records, communications and any leads that could reveal the missing person’s fate or whereabouts. Emphasis was placed on prompt, thorough investigation, sensitivity to the affected family’s plight, and regular reporting to the Court to ensure accountability and avoid delay that could hamper fact-finding.
