Kozhikode District Commission Holds MyG Digital, LG India And Its Service Centre Liable For Withholding TV Sent For Repairs
In a recent judgment, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Kozhikode (Kerala), found MyG Digital, LG Service Centre, and LG Electronics India liable for deficient services. The case arose when the complainant's LG television, purchased with a 2-year warranty, malfunctioned and was sent to the LG Service Centre for repairs. Despite assurances of a quick return, the TV was withheld for an extended period without adequate communication or repair. The Commission deemed this behavior a gross deficiency of service and unfair trade practice, causing the complainant significant inconvenience and mental distress. Consequently, the Commission ordered the defendants to either repair the TV and return it within 30 days or refund the purchase amount of Rs. 23,490, along with compensation totaling Rs. 13,500 for damages and litigation costs.
