Manipur High Court Hearing Compensation Plea: Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights Trust
The Manipur High Court has asked the Central and State Governments to respond to a writ petition by the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights Trust. The petition seeks relief for women allegedly injured by paramilitary forces during a protest in Saibol village, Kangpokpi district in 2024. The women claim that, during the protest over alleged forceful occupation of community bunkers by security personnel, actions were taken (including use of force) resulting in injuries. Reliefs sought include registration of an FIR, prosecution sanction, an SIT investigation, and compensation for the injured. The Court granted time for official respondents to file counter-affidavits (three weeks), and any rejoinder from the petitioners within two weeks. The Court deferred issuing notices to specific CRPF personnel named in personal capacities, citing submissions that doing so may adversely influence the morale of security forces. The next hearing is set for October 17, 2025.
