MCA Mandates PDF Attachment of Signed Financials with E-form
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has mandated that companies filing their financial statements using e-form AOC-4 XBRL must now also attach a PDF copy of the financials as signed by the company's board of directors. This amendment to the Companies (Accounts) Rules, 2014, is aimed at enhancing authenticity and accountability in corporate financial reporting. While the XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) format provides structured data that is easy for regulators to analyze, the requirement of a signed PDF ensures that there is an authenticated, board-approved version of the financial statements on record. This dual submission process combines the benefits of machine-readable data with the legal validity of a manually signed document. This move is expected to improve corporate governance by creating a non-repudiable record of the financial statements approved by the company's leadership.
