As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for his third term inauguration on June 9, the upcoming government faces a packed agenda including legislative bills and a revised 100-day plan. Economic bills like amendments to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and Companies Laws are slated for discussion.
Additionally, reforms in the insurance sector through amendments to the Insurance Act and the IRDAI Act are pending. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has drafted a Digital Competition Bill for further consultations. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance is seeking suggestions on the draft Central Excise Bill, 2024.
However, the timing for these bills may be adjusted based on the new government's priorities, influenced by allies like TDP and JD(U). Despite a narrower majority, experts anticipate policy continuity with a focus on infrastructure, business environment improvement, and fiscal consolidation.
