The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in Chandigarh approved the amalgamation of AIX Connect Pvt Ltd., owner of Air Asia Airlines, with Air India Express Ltd. The tribunal, led by judicial member Harnam Singh Thakur and technical member LN Gupta, sanctioned the merger under sections 230 to 232 of the Companies Act, 2013. \r
The amalgamation, approved by regulators including the Registrar of Companies and the Ministry of Civil Aviation, will dissolve AIX Connect without winding up, making Air India Express the sole shareholder. AIX Connect operates domestically with 19 destinations, while Air India Express serves 34 international routes.\r
The merger, supported by various authorities, was allowed within nine months of filing.
