According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), net foreign direct investment (FDI) in India increased to $5.5 billion during the April-July period of the current financial year (FY25), up from $3.8 billion in the same period last year. This rise is attributed to a 23.6% year-on-year growth in gross inward FDI, which reached $27.7 billion. The sectors attracting the most FDI include manufacturing, financial services, communication services, computer services, and electricity and other energy sectors. Major source countries for these investments were Singapore, Mauritius, the Netherlands, the US, Belgium, and Japan. Despite the increase, net FDI flow had dropped sharply to $9.8 billion in FY24 from $28 billion in the previous year. The data underscores the importance of FDI in driving economic growth and highlights the sectors and countries contributing significantly to India's FDI inflows.
