Student representatives of the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) have raised concerns over the high cost of the entrance process for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), citing both the application fee and the seat counselling/confirmation costs. They have submitted three representations — in November 2024, July 2025, and September 2025 — urging fee reduction, need-based waivers and more equitable counselling structure, but allege the Consortium has still not responded. They argue the fee structure is exclusionary and a barrier especially to aspirants from lower-income households.
