No Reason To Believe Hemant Soren Was Guilty Of Money Laundering: Jharkhand High Court In Former CM's Bail Order
The Jharkhand High Court granted bail to former Chief Minister Hemant Soren in connection with an alleged land scam case, following its decision to reserve the order on June 13. The single bench led by Justice Rongon Mukhopadhyay accepted arguments from Senior Advocates Meenakshi Arora and Kapil Sibal, who claimed the charges were politically motivated and lacked basis. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had accused Soren of misusing his position to acquire 8.86 acres unlawfully in Ranchi. The court noted discrepancies in the ED's claims and cited lack of direct evidence linking Soren to the alleged crimes. Consequently, Soren was granted bail on a bond of Rs. 50,000 with two sureties. The case underscores issues of political targeting and legal scrutiny in high-profile corruption allegations.
