No Service Tax on Construction for Educational Institutions: CESTAT quashes Demand Order
The Chennai bench of the Customs, Excise & Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT) nullified a service tax demand on construction services provided to educational institutions. M/s. Sri Mookambigai Constructions India Pvt. Ltd. had contested the order from the Commissioner of GST & Central Excise, which had imposed service tax on their construction activities for educational institutions. CESTAT ruled that such construction services are not subject to service tax, thereby quashing the demand order.
