Ola Electric bags key certification for its 4680 Bharat Cell

Ola Electric has secured certification for its in-house developed “4680 Bharat Cell” battery pack in a 5.2 kWh configuration. This milestone signals a move toward vertical integration—reducing reliance on imported cells and aiming for improved range, performance and reliability. The certified pack will debut in the S1 Pro+ scooter, making it the first model to use the home-designed cell. The certification covers rigorous tests under AIS-156 Amendment 4 norms, including safety, water ingress, thermal shock and short-circuit protections. The development positions the company strategically as India advances its EV manufacturing ecosystem and supply chain localisation push, with Ola gearing up for future gigafactory scale-up and in-house cell manufacturing.
