PhonePe Offloads 5% Stake In MapmyIndia For INR 486 Cr
Digital payments major PhonePe has offloaded a 5% stake in the publicly listed mapping and location technology firm, MapmyIndia. The transaction, executed through a block deal on the stock exchange, was valued at approximately Rs 486 crore. This move allows PhonePe to partially monetize its investment in MapmyIndia and unlock significant capital. PhonePe had acquired this stake as part of its acquisition of the location-based intelligence startup, Indus OS, in 2021, as MapmyIndia was an investor in Indus OS. The stake sale is a strategic financial decision for PhonePe, providing it with additional funds that can be reinvested into its core business areas, such as expanding its financial services offerings or strengthening its market position in the competitive digital payments space. The deal also reflects the value appreciation of MapmyIndia's shares since its successful IPO.
