PM Surya Ghar: All government buildings in India to be solarised by 2025
The Indian government has mandated 100% solarisation of all its buildings by 2025 under the PM Surya Ghar scheme. This initiative applies to government offices under Central, state, and Union Territory administrations. Ministries have been directed to install rooftop solar systems using either the CAPEX or RESCO models, with priority given to this task. \r
Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) specializing in renewable energy will support ministries in deploying rooftop solar, facilitated through partnerships like NHPC's agreement with Tata Power Renewable Energy. The scheme, known as PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, aims to maximize solar utilization on government rooftops without central financial assistance.
