PSUs distribute record ₹1.5 lakh crore as dividend in FY24
In FY24, public sector undertakings (PSUs) saw a record-high dividend distribution of ₹1.5 lakh crore, up from ₹1.07 lakh crore the previous year, reflecting improved profitability and strong order books. With a 44.3% increase in aggregate net profit to ₹5.3 lakh crore, the dividend distribution rose by 36.1%, resulting in a 27.6% dividend payout ratio. \r
This benefits the government, holding nearly 61% of PSUs, especially after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced a record ₹2.1 lakh crore dividend. Leading the dividend rankings are Indian Oil Corporation, Coal India, ONGC, State Bank of India, and Power Grid Corporation, collectively contributing 48% of the total payouts. \r
State-owned lenders also declared significant dividends, with the Nifty PSE and Nifty PSU Bank indices outperforming the Nifty50 by a considerable margin.
