Four employees of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company in Pune have been accused of forging 97 reimbursement claims, resulting in a loss of Rs 2.23 crore. The complaint was filed by an official from the company, leading to police action.
The accused allegedly tampered with medical documents attached to reimbursement claims submitted under 'Corona Kavach' and other insurance policies between March 2020 and December 2021. They added names of family members and friends who hadn't received Covid-19 treatment, approving 97 fraudulent claims and transferring Rs 2,23,09,205 to their accounts.
The fraud was uncovered during internal scrutiny. Police are investigating, and no arrests have been made yet.
