The Punjab and Haryana High Court refused to grant relief to a lawyer who allegedly misrepresented himself as a judge to evade action by traffic police officials. The Court strongly disapproved of such conduct, observing that impersonation of a judicial officer undermines the dignity of the judiciary and public trust in legal institutions. The Bench held that professional status cannot be misused to seek unlawful advantage or intimidate public servants performing their duties. Emphasising ethical responsibility and accountability of members of the Bar, the Court declined to interfere with the proceedings initiated against the lawyer, reinforcing that no individual is above the law.
