The Rajasthan High Court imposed costs on a litigant for engaging in forum shopping, strongly condemning the practice as an abuse of judicial process. The bench highlighted that litigants cannot manipulate jurisdiction by filing multiple petitions in different forums to obtain favourable orders. Such behaviour, it observed, undermines the efficiency and sanctity of judicial proceedings. The court held that access to justice should not be misused to delay or obstruct fair adjudication. It further noted that repeated filings on identical issues cause unnecessary judicial burden and amount to contempt of procedural discipline. The decision serves as a stern reminder that strategic misuse of court hierarchy or concurrent jurisdictions will attract punitive costs and dismissal.
