Rajasthan High Court Rejects Plea Challenging Age Criteria For Civil Judge Recruitment
In Ghanshyam Das v Rajasthan High Court and Anr, the Rajasthan High Court dismissed a petition challenging the upper age limit for the Civil Judge recruitment exam. \r
The petitioner, who had crossed the age threshold, argued that the limit contradicted the Rajasthan Judicial Services Rules, 2010, which aimed to accommodate candidates who missed eligibility due to irregular exam schedules. Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava noted the last recruitment was in 2021, when the petitioner was eligible, but not in 2022. \r
Rule 17 sets the age limits and includes a proviso for deemed eligibility if exams are missed. The Court concluded that the petitioner would not have been eligible even with age relaxation in 2022, validating the recruitment advertisement and dismissing the petition.
