The Gujarat High Court has directed the State government to form a fact-finding committee to investigate the May 24 fire at a Rajkot gaming zone and the inaction of Rajkot Municipal Corporation officials. A Bench of Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal and Justice Pranav Trivedi emphasized the need for a thorough inquiry, ensuring no guilty officials are spared. \r
The Court also ordered inspections of schools for fire safety and noted repeated incidents of negligence in public safety. The Principal Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department must file an affidavit with the inquiry report. The matter will be reviewed on July 4. The Court took suo motu cognizance after 27 lives were lost in the incident.
