MMRDA scraps Mumbai infra tenders post-SC rap - The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has scrapped two major infrastructure tenders, worth over ₹14,000 crore, for the Thane-Ghodbunder to Bhayandar tunnel and elevated road projects. This decision comes after the Supreme Court strongly questioned the bidding norms and hinted at staying the tenders, particularly after Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Limited challenged its exclusion from the financial bids. The MMRDA informed the Supreme Court that it decided to scrap the tenders in "public interest" and would issue fresh ones, providing relief to L&T and indicating a commitment to fairer bidding processes.
