The Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) urged for rationalizing GST rates in the hospitality sector, delinking room tariffs from dining service taxes, and raising the GST threshold to Rs 18,000 for hotels. \r
Jack Sukhija, the new TTAG president, emphasized simplifying licensing and facilitating easy visa approvals. He highlighted the disadvantage Indian tour operators face due to GST compared to foreign counterparts. Foreign market recovery in Goa stands at 45%, surpassing India's 30%, emphasizing the need for government support. \r
Sukhija advocated for visa-free entry to attract more international tourists, citing examples of countries like Thailand and Sri Lanka offering such facilities, which enhance competitiveness. \r
The appeal was made during the 35th TTAG installation ceremony, attended by Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte and Tourism Director Suneel Anchipaka.
