A record keeper (ahlmad) at Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court, who is accused of demanding a bribe in exchange for processing bail documents, has withdrawn his anticipatory bail application from the Delhi High Court. The court had earlier observed that the allegations were "extremely serious," and there was concrete evidence on record, including audio recordings. The case was initiated by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB). The accused had also filed a plea to quash the FIR, alleging that it was a retaliatory action by the ACB. After the High Court showed disinclination to grant him protection from arrest, the court staff member chose to withdraw his pleas. The court has allowed the withdrawal, and the investigation by the ACB will now proceed in accordance with the law, leaving the accused vulnerable to arrest.
