Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut was sentenced to 15 days in jail and fined ₹25,000 in a defamation case filed by Medha Somaiya, wife of BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. The case stemmed from Raut’s allegations of a ₹100 crore scam involving the construction of public toilets. The court found Raut guilty under Section 500 of the IPC. Raut was granted bail shortly after the sentencing, allowing him to appeal the decision.
