SOPs for faster loan, insurance sanctions in works
The Government of India is collaborating with financial institutions, including banks, to streamline the sanctioning process for financial services such as loans and insurance under its major schemes. \r
This initiative aims to introduce a common application form and standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring faster approvals and uniformity across various programs like the rooftop solar scheme, NRLM, and insurance renewals through portals like Jan Suraksha. \r
State Bank of India has been designated as the nodal bank for the rooftop solar loan scheme, further enhancing efficiency. Discussions are also underway to integrate more closely with platforms like Udyam for MSME loans and to standardize loan application processes for self-help groups under NRLM. \r
Additionally, banks are advancing towards a unified agri-collateral platform to support agricultural lending diversification and digital transformation under the EASE reform version 7.0.
