A startup innovation challenge commenced on June 12 in Bengaluru to enhance the city's mobility by leveraging open data from its transit agencies. Titled 'Enroute: A Mobility-As-A-Service Challenge', the initiative aims to revolutionize public transportation by enabling commuters to access real-time updates, plan journeys efficiently, and make payments through a unified portal. \r
Spearheaded by Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, Villgro, and WRI India, the challenge offers seed funding and pilot opportunities for the top three startups. With around 70% of metro users commuting for work, the challenge seeks to integrate various transport modes into a cohesive platform. \r
Officials, including former MP Prof Rajeev Gowda and BMRCL MD Maheshwar Rao, endorse the initiative, emphasizing the importance of leveraging data for smarter urban mobility.
