Sufficient Cause Needs To Be Given To Condone Delay: NCDRC
The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) ruled that consumer complaints must be filed within the limitation period specified under Section 24A of the Consumer Protection Act. In the case where plots were purchased in 1984 and a complaint was filed in 2020, the NCDRC dismissed the complaint due to an unjustified 36-year delay. The commission emphasized that "sufficient cause" must be proven for any delay in filing a consumer complaint, and such delays without valid reasons cannot be condoned.
