Supreme Court Expedites Hearing Of Sanjiv Chaturvedi's Plea For Information From PMO On Black Money Brought From Abroad
The Supreme Court expedited the hearing of Sanjiv Chaturvedi's plea seeking information from the PMO on corruption complaints against Union Ministers and the amount of black money brought from abroad. Chaturvedi's RTI application, filed in 2017, was initially denied by the PMO. The Central Information Commission directed the PMO to provide the information, but the PMO cited legal exemptions. After the Delhi High Court sided with the CIC's revised order, Chaturvedi appealed to the Supreme Court, arguing the denial violated citizens' democratic rights.
