Supreme Court Grants Interim Protection To Odisha Administrative Service Officer Bijaya Ketan Sahoo In Money Laundering Case\r\n
The Supreme Court has granted interim protection from arrest to Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Officer Bijaya Ketan Sahoo, accused of money laundering in a disproportionate assets case. Sahoo was directed to appear before the Special Court within two weeks and furnish bail bonds. The Court's decision was made on the condition that Sahoo cooperates with the investigation and appears before the Special Court as required. Sahoo had sought anticipatory bail in response to a summons notice issued by the PMLA Court, alleging possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs. 5 crore. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had filed a case against Sahoo and his wife, a State Financial Official, for acquiring properties, including six plots and a triple-storied structure in Bhubaneswar, through a relative with no independent source of income. The Court's interim protection from arrest will remain in place until the next hearing.
