The Madras High Court praised Tamil Nadu's efforts to create a safe space for the transgender and LGBTQIA+ community through its Gender and Sexual Minority Policy. Justice Anand Venkatesh granted three more months for finalizing the policy, noting Tamil Nadu's progressive approach despite being viewed as conservative. \r
The judge expressed confidence that the policy would set a national precedent. Additionally, the Court directed the National Medical Commission to update the curriculum for Forensic Sciences and Psychiatry to reflect the 2022 notification deeming conversion therapy as professional misconduct. \r
