Tax Exemption u/s 80 G of Income Tax helps in Progression of SSE in India: Economic Survey 2023-2024
The Economic Survey 2023-24, presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, highlights the impact of tax exemptions under section 80G of the Income Tax Act on the progression of the Social Stock Exchange (SSE) in India. The SSE helps bridge the financing gap for socio-development goals by offering alternative fundraising instruments like Zero Coupon, Zero Principal (ZCZP) securities. These tax exemptions boost donor confidence and scalability of the SSE ecosystem. As of April 2024, 51 NPOs are registered on the BSE and 50 on the NSE, with funds raised totaling ₹12.4 crore for various social projects.
