Textiles Ministry approves ₹50 lakh funding for startups to boost innovation
In New Delhi, Textiles Secretary Rachna Shah chaired the 7th meeting of the Empowered Programme Committee (EPC) for the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM), announcing the approval of funding to bolster startups in Technical Textiles. \r
The initiative, named Grant for Research and Entrepreneurship across Aspiring Innovators in Technical Textiles (GREAT), aims to support young innovators, scientists, and startup ventures in translating their concepts into commercial technologies and products. \r
Under GREAT, the EPC has sanctioned support for 7 startup proposals with funding up to ₹50 lakhs per startup. Additionally, a grant of ₹6.4 crores has been allocated to IIT Guwahati to enhance its Civil Engineering Department's capabilities in technical textiles. \r
The initiatives under NTTM focus on sustainability, high-performance textiles, MediTech, and smart textiles, aiming to advance technology-driven manufacturing in India.
