A Srinagar court has granted a three-day transit remand to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a key co-conspirator in the Red Fort car bomb blast case, identified as Jasbir Bilal Wani (also called Danish). The remand will allow the NIA to transfer him to Delhi, where he is to be produced before the NIA Special Court. Authorities allege that Wani provided technical assistance in the conspiracy, including work on drone modification and rocket-making, and has been implicated under serious charges including offences related to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Explosive Substances Act. The court described the accused’s alleged involvement as “grave in nature” due to its implications for India’s security, sovereignty, and national integrity, and noted practical challenges of producing him directly in Delhi, thereby justifying the transit custody. The NIA stated that it is continuing to pursue multiple leads in the case to unravel the broader conspiracy. (Bar and Bench - Indian Legal news)
