An online share market scam has come to light in Rajkot, where two individuals were duped of a total of Rs 28.36 lakh. The victims were lured into a fraudulent investment scheme through social media platforms like WhatsApp. The scammers created a fake online trading platform and convinced the victims to invest their money by promising exceptionally high and guaranteed returns. Initially, they showed some notional profits in the victims' accounts to gain their trust. However, when the victims tried to withdraw their money, the scammers disappeared, and the platform became inaccessible. This incident is a stark reminder of the growing menace of online financial fraud. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. It highlights the need for investors to be extremely cautious and to verify the legitimacy of any online investment platform before committing their funds.
