Validity Of AIBE Results Extended Till March 21, 2026 By BCI, Notes Karnataka High Court
The Karnataka High Court recorded that the Bar Council of India (BCI) has extended the validity period of All India Bar Examination (AIBE) results until March 21, 2026, while disposing of a writ petition filed by two law graduates who faced delay in their enrolment as advocates. The petitioners had sought directions to the Karnataka State Bar Council to process enrolment applications without imposing additional preconditions and to refund alleged unauthorised document verification fees. The Court noted the BCI’s decision was taken to mitigate the prejudice that would be caused to candidates whose AIBE validity might otherwise expire while state-level formalities remained pending. The Karnataka State Bar Council assured the Court that pending applications would be processed before the extended validity date provided applicants submitted requisite documents; for incomplete filings, reminders would be issued. The Court declined to adjudicate on the substantive challenge to the ₹2,500 document verification fee as that issue was pending before the Supreme Court, and disposed of the petition in view of the BCI’s extension and the KSBC’s assurances.
