Former Karnataka minister B. Nagendra has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by a Bengaluru court in connection with the alleged multi-crore scam involving the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation. Arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on July 12 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, Nagendra faces allegations of misappropriation of funds. The case emerged after a Valmiki Corporation employee, Chandrashekhar, died by suicide, leaving a note accusing mismanagement of welfare funds. The ED's probe revealed approximately ₹90 crore was illegally transferred to unauthorized accounts.
