RERA Cases Weekly Round Up – 13th May To 19th May,2024
In Karnataka, the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) ordered refunds to homebuyers due to builder delays. In one case against Mantri Builders Private Limited, the builder failed to hand over possession of a flat for over six years, leading to a refund directive by the Authority. Another case involved Shree Krishna Developers & Promoters, where the builder failed to provide land within the agreed timeline, prompting a refund order. \r
Similarly, the Rajasthan RERA, chaired by Justice RS Kulhari, ruled in favor of complainants facing possession delays. In one case against Parsvnath Developers Limited, a shop buyer received compensation for the delay. In another case against AKG Affordable Housing Private Limited, a homebuyer under the CM Jan Awas Yojna was compensated for possession delays and awarded Rs. 80,000 for mental agony. \r
Meanwhile, the Punjab government initiated the appointment process for a new Chairman for Punjab RERA after the resignation of former Chairman Satya Gopal. In Maharashtra, the Real Estate Appellate Tribunal dismissed a builder's appeal due to a 380-day filing delay in a case against R. Jayanti Rani & Anr.
