Business License Registration Services

Business licences and registrations in India — FSSAI, Udyam, IEC, Shop Act, trade licence, PF/ESI, BIS, drug licence and more, filed by verified WCP experts.

Business License Registration covers the approvals a business needs to operate legally — from the registrations almost every business needs, such as Udyam, Shop & Establishment and professional tax, to sector licences for food, drugs, security services, packaged goods and regulated products.

WCP professionals identify which licences apply to your activity and location, prepare the applications on the right government portals, coordinate inspections and tests where required, and keep renewals and annual updates on track.

What is covered:

  • Udyam (MSME), Shop & Establishment, trade licence and professional tax
  • PF and ESI employer registration
  • FSSAI food registration and licences
  • Import Export Code (IEC) and digital signature certificates
  • BIS certification, legal metrology and GS1 barcodes
  • Drug & cosmetic licences, PSARA licences and other sector approvals

Operating without a required licence risks penalties, sealing of premises or seizure of goods — and many licences must be in place before the first sale.

Frequently asked questions

Which licences does a new business need?
It depends on the activity and State, but most need a Shop & Establishment registration, GST if above the threshold, professional tax and, for employers, PF and ESI; food, drugs, imports and security services need their own licences.
Is Udyam registration free?
Yes. Udyam registration on the government portal is free, paperless and based on Aadhaar and PAN, with no renewal needed.
What are the new FSSAI turnover limits?
From 1 April 2026, basic registration covers turnover up to ₹1.5 crore, a State licence ₹1.5 crore to ₹50 crore, and a Central licence above ₹50 crore, with some categories needing a Central licence regardless of turnover.
Do I need an IEC to export services?
An IEC is needed to import or export goods and to claim export benefits; most service exporters also obtain one, as banks and schemes ask for it.
When must an employer register for PF and ESI?
For PF, generally once the establishment employs 20 or more people; for ESI, 10 or more in notified areas (20 in some States).
What happens if a business operates without a licence?
Penalties, prosecution under the relevant law, sealing of premises or seizure of goods, depending on the licence — so licences should be in place before operations begin.
