The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Headquarters Unit, New Delhi, has provisionally attached movable and immovable assets valued at approximately ₹18.10 crore under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 in connection with the illegal online betting platform 1xBet.
The investigation revealed that 1xBet was operating in India without authorization and was promoting illegal online betting and gambling activities through multiple mirror websites. The platform allegedly adopted a concealed mechanism for collection of funds by generating dynamic UPI IDs linked to mule bank accounts. This method was used to disguise the actual beneficiaries and layer the Proceeds of Crime.
Further investigation indicated that Parthtech Developers LLP, which operates high-traffic cricket platforms CREX and OneCricket, entered into structured advertisement agreements with Bwise Media AG, Switzerland, for promotion of illegal betting platforms including 1xBet. Statements recorded under Section 50 of the PMLA established that advertisements of 1xBet were directly booked, geo-targeted, and executed on the CREX platform through Parthtech Developers LLP’s in-house advertisement server “Parth Adex.”
The ED has advised the public to remain vigilant against illegal online betting and gambling platforms operating without authorization in India. Members of the public have been cautioned not to engage with such platforms, not to transfer funds to suspicious UPI IDs or unknown payment links associated with betting apps or websites, and not to share personal or banking details on such platforms.
With the present attachment, the total value of assets attached in the case stands at approximately ₹37.23 crore. Further investigation is ongoing.
