The Directorate of Enforcement, Lucknow Zonal Office, has provisionally attached three immovable properties and one movable asset belonging to the Anee Group of Companies, valued at approximately ₹7.30 crore, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. The action forms part of an ongoing probe into a money laundering case connected with Anee Bullion Traders and associated entities.
The attached immovable assets include lands and buildings owned by Anee Bullion Industries Pvt Ltd, located in Lucknow, Delhi and Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand. The movable property consists of a fixed deposit identified as proceeds of crime.
Investor Funds Allegedly Layered Through Multiple Entities
The ED initiated its investigation based on multiple FIRs registered by Uttar Pradesh Police against Ajit Kumar Gupta and others, alleging cheating and fraud amounting to nearly ₹110 crore. Investors were reportedly lured into fraudulent schemes with false promises of returns. According to the agency, the collected funds were layered and rotated through several Anee Group companies and a cooperative society, Eye Vision Credit Co-operative Society, which was allegedly controlled by Gupta. These funds were then used to acquire properties in the name of group entities.
The ED noted that in 2023 it had already attached assets worth ₹9.1 crore linked to Gupta, his family and group companies, taking the total value of attached properties in the case to about ₹16.4 crore. Further investigation is ongoing to trace additional proceeds of crime and beneficiaries.
